Women’s Rights Convention begins in Seneca Falls, New York.

The two-day conference is organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton and attended by some 300 women at the Wesleyan Chapel. Men are allowed to attend on the second day, and some 40 do, including Frederick Douglass.
